The Haute Route for those who are here above all to ski.
Between Andermatt and Engelberg lie the Urner Alps — a compact but distinctly alpine area where each day's travel combines long ascents with substantial descents.
This is less a journey for ticking off a famous line, and more a traverse for skiers.
The journey
Over six days we cross the Urner Alps from Andermatt toward Engelberg, sleeping in mountain huts and travelling light between valleys, cols and glaciers.
The route is chosen to combine a logical passage through the area with good skiing — the recurring long descents are what set this traverse apart. We keep the plan open: if snow or weather makes another line better, we take it.
